A Prize In Every Box

This is a place for the random musings and life experiences of one Fliven, who looks for life's fun little surprises, even when its in a giant box of stale, tasteless foodstuffs.

Cats and Blondes

On Sunday my sister dropped her pet cat off at the parents' house while she goes to some podunk town in Nebraska to help some friends with something or other. I guranteed her she'd be bored after about an hour and a half. There's only so much corn a person can take before they start foaming at the mouth. This cat is fun; the family has been cat-less (my brother and sister each have one, but there is no "family cat") for some time now. This cat, named Gypsy (Actual name revealed! Special bonus material! Five points to Gryffindor!) is known to me by the alias "eyeball licker." This is because, the one time I was taking care of her for my sister, this horrid creature goes into my bathroom at like, 3 in the morning, drinks out of the toilet (thank God it was clean) and then proceeds to wake me up to gloat about it by licking my eyelids with its cold, cold little face. I was not in the best of moods. My brother's cat, Oscar (ANOTHER name revealed!! Easter egg!! You level up!!) is known by the moniker of "shipwrecker." When I had left the house one day, I come home to find my Lego Pirate Ship (long history, cherished Fliven item) on the floor of my room in about a zillion pieces and a small black face where said ship USED to be with the expression of "what? I was just sitting here!" Anyway, the point is, if I didn't like cats as much as I do, I'd hate them.

Not much else going on this week; debating going down to ATL for the next couple weeks and doing job searching. Otherwise, its life as normal in Flivenville. Cheers.

30 in 30

Wow, its been awhile since my last post, hasn't it? I guess not much that's noteworthy has been going on...but that's about to change, as per my activities over the last couple weeks.

1. Not working at Umbrella anymore. I wasn't happy, they weren't happy, there was just generally unhappiness all around. I started looking around for a new job about 2 months ago, and had an interview two weeks ago that was the same exact kind of work, but I'd be working closer to home, making 15K a year more, free health & dental, mass transit allowance, and would be working 15 hours per week less (35 hours instead of 50 or more). Which made me think that the people at Umbrella are a bunch of jerks and its no WONDER no one stays there long-term. Still waiting to hear on the interviewed jobs. I ALSO applied at Cartoon Network, which would be AWESOME to work at, plus it'd mean I'd be moving down to Behtia's territory. No word on that yet, either.

2. Am turning 30 in 30 days. Its a little scary. I'm trying to find my "100 things to do before I die" list and see what I can get done. But mostly, its been a time of reflections of memories past and future plans, although the odd unanswerable questions still sneak in. It just wouldn't be me, otherwise. Like thinking about 401Ks and IRAs and then thinking "I wonder if food tastes different depending on what I wear?" which IS an interesting question...but not that productive.

3. Relationship-wise things go well...we're still dealing with the distance issue, but everything is on hold for the moment as Behtia's twin sister gets married at the end of the month. That's kinda made everything crazy.

4. Finally got my custom sword...it is wicked cool and totally worth it. I think I blogged about it earlier...

5. Am becoming addicted to Bertucci's. I swear, if they had good rolls, I'd not eat anywhere else. But they have those rock-like tasteless things. Why not soft breadsticks like Olive Garden? Or like Fazoli's? Or cheesy biscuits like at Red Lobster, that are DEFINITELY laced with something...SO good. But yeah...I love their rigatoni, broccoli, and chicken. Its scrumdiddlyumptious.

Not much else! Hope all readers are out living life to the fullest. Sorry for the lack of bloggage.

I've recently really gotten into Scrubs. Such a fun show. I think it was when JD and Turk painted a Transformers battle on the baby's bedroom wall. Awesome.
